Resident exemption

Lawton residents with active city trash service can dump household waste for only the gate fee a limited number of times each year. Bring a current photo ID and a copy of your water bill, and the name and address must match. City pages have listed this as one trip per quarter and as six trips per year, so confirm the current limit with the city before you go.

Cover your load

Tarp and tie down everything in your truck or trailer. Loads that aren't secured are charged an extra $25, and loose debris on the road is a safety hazard on 11th Street.

City of Lawton Bulky Trash Pickup

If you only have a few big items, the city may haul them from your curb. Here's how monthly bulky waste pickup works:

It's for single-family homes and duplexes with an active city utility account.

Lawton is split into four areas. Area One is picked up the first Monday of the month, Area Two the second, Area Three the third and Area Four the fourth.

Put items at the curb no earlier than the Friday before your Monday, and no later than 7 a.m. Monday.

The limit is about 4 cubic yards, roughly the size of four clothes dryers.

Putting items out at the wrong time can add a premium collection charge to your utility bill.

Call the City of Lawton collections office at 580-581-3428 (7 a.m. to 4 p.m.) to confirm your area and what's accepted.

Lawton Trash Off: Free Disposal Day

Each spring, the city holds Trash Off, a free drop-off day for Lawton residents. It's the easiest way to get rid of things the landfill and dumpsters don't take, like tires, paint and batteries, along with old appliances. In 2026 it was held on May 2 in the McMahon Memorial Auditorium parking lot. Watch the city's announcements early each spring for the next date.

What Not to Bring

Like most landfills, the City of Lawton Landfill restricts hazardous materials. Do not load liquid paint, chemicals, pesticides, motor oil, propane tanks or medical waste with your regular trash. Hold tires, paint and batteries for Trash Off, and ask the landfill how to handle appliances with refrigerant.
